New York Labor Day Carnival: Etched in memories forever

September is the month of Zeal and fervor in New York, as it is the month of awe-inspiring Carnival celebration. The most expected jamboree of the New York, “Labor day carnival”. Started from September 3rd and carried on till September 7th. The New York is anticipating its 43rd anniversary of carnival on 2010. Carnival 2009 was a remarkable parade carried out with more than 3.5 million addressees, which was 42nd festive anniversary of carnival.

The event instigated with ceremonial grandeur by the president of WIDCA (West Indian American Day Carnival Association) Mr. Yolanda Lezama Clark. General Colin L. Powell the former secretary of state for US and Mr. David A. Paterson Grand Marshals for year 2009 accompanied him. Soon after the ceremony, the mysterious Carnival burst out Caribbean folklore and action-packed Caribbean Bands. The music was drenched in essence of Caribbean heritage and was simply awesome. Masquerades, Floats and Moko Jumbies, along with the mass of live performers, the sesame flyers in their attires, the overall ambiance was out of the blue. Carnival is famous for outlandish costumes, a pageant of crazy populace, and the flavorsome Caribbean cuisines.

The Sun of September 5th rose with Dazzling Caribbean music and the junior carnival at Brooklyn museum. The children fully clad with Caribbean apparel, looked cheerful with their parents. Enthusiasm doesn’t ended here, same night was the time of Steel Band Performance on of the best US band. The crowd was truly rocking with conjuring music.

The celebration went on with the Dimanche Gras, September 6, 7 of the clock, and people started rolling with well-known Caribbean artists, Tigress and Mighty Sparrows. Crowd over there compelled to turn around and around.

September 7, Monday, was the final day of fiesta. The panorama was really incredible. A gigantic parade synchronized mannerly, left an impression that will last in memories forever.

The 2009 New York Labor Day carnival is attracting millions, with all joining in to be a part of this 42nd colorful extravaganza. The music and fun not seems to stop with the electrifying performances. The Brass fest at the Brooklyn museum on September 4th at 8 PM in the evening featured HD & the HD family, Machel Montano, Fayann Lyons & the Asylum Band including many more thrilled every single person present on the venue.

On Saturday morning-5th September the streets of Brooklyn came alive with the junior carnival at 9:00 am. The children all dressed in Caribbean costumes brought a glimpse of Caribbean right in Crown Heights, Brooklyn. With happy parents cheering them on and the rich Caribbean music in the background it was wonderful weekend morning. The Steel band Panorama event, which took place in the Brooklyn museum on the same night, saw the finest steel band in US filling the atmosphere with their rocking music. But the excitement does not end here. The celebration continues with the Dimanche Gras at 7 in the evening on 6th September where popular and exciting Caribbean artists like The mighty Sparrows, Tigress and 3 Canal among others will surely swing everyone present .With the great and vibrant parade lined up on Monday-7th September the fun and the memories of this weekend will remain with all the visitors for long.
