New York labor day carnival weekend continues with all the fun and frolic

The 2009 New York Labor Day carnival is attracting millions, with all joining in to be a part of this 42nd colorful extravaganza. The music and fun not seems to stop with the electrifying performances. The Brass fest at the Brooklyn museum on September 4th at 8 PM in the evening featured HD & the HD family, Machel Montano, Fayann Lyons & the Asylum Band including many more thrilled every single person present on the venue.

On Saturday morning-5th September the streets of Brooklyn came alive with the junior carnival at 9:00 am. The children all dressed in Caribbean costumes brought a glimpse of Caribbean right in Crown Heights, Brooklyn. With happy parents cheering them on and the rich Caribbean music in the background it was wonderful weekend morning. The Steel band Panorama event, which took place in the Brooklyn museum on the same night, saw the finest steel band in US filling the atmosphere with their rocking music. But the excitement does not end here. The celebration continues with the Dimanche Gras at 7 in the evening on 6th September where popular and exciting Caribbean artists like The mighty Sparrows, Tigress and 3 Canal among others will surely swing everyone present .With the great and vibrant parade lined up on Monday-7th September the fun and the memories of this weekend will remain with all the visitors for long.

Millions of Brooklynites & New Yorkers line up at the Brooklyn parade, starting from September 3rd to September 7th 2009. Celebrating its 42nd anniversary this time, the fest still continues to enjoy being the best and the biggest cultural festival held in New York by far.

The weekend festival Organized by the West Indian American Day Carnival Association is held in Eastern Parkway, Brooklyn, and the theme for this year is the “sesame flyers”.

The other major attractions of this year parade according to the different dates are;

September 3rd, Thursday

– The Clash of the Calypso Titans, 7:30 pm, featuring 24 greatest and most popular, talented Calypso and Soca artists.

September 4th, Friday- Stay in School Cultural Concert, 1- 4 pm, to send a social message to all youngsters to study well and stay away from drugs, and other taboo things.

Brass Fest, 8 pm, featuring the most exciting performers from Caribbean.

September 5th, Saturday- Junior Carnival, 9 am to 3 pm, the parade will move from Kingston Ave. to the Brooklyn museum.

Panorama competition, 8 pm, will showcase steel orchestras in US.

September 6th , Sunday- Dimanche Gras, 7 pm, featuring the most exciting and known performers from Caribbean.

September 7th, Monday – West Indian American Day Carnival Parade, 8 am to 6 pm

With costume bands, masquerades, Moko Jumbies and much more, enjoy Caribbean ethnic heritage and cultural diversity at this amazing parade from 3rd to 7th September, to experience something which will last a lifetime.
