Brazilian Samba in Rio Carnaval
|

Samba traces its origin to the words Angola Mesemba. It was a tad vulgar Congo dance with an apparent belly bump that characterized the lady from the man. Samba became an art form from there on, and couples started to work on it. Its flair made it famous worldwide.

Samba origin
Samba dance and music forms have also been thought to originate during Brazil’s slavery days. When police suspected revolution among slaves and made direct enquiries, they would feel like rebelling. But fearing greater repercussion they would dilute their revolt in more acceptable musical form. This led to Samba music according to some. The agile bodies of slaves made Samba dance attractive and it caught like wildfire. ‘Pelo Telefon’ is the first ever Samba music recording done in 1917.
Samba dance carried its own till 1960 when the hip-hop dances and disco took the sheen off it. But it has returned by varying its context somewhat and making itself a bit restrained. Name of the variation is Pagudo.
Samba wild play
Rio carnival is when the people from all across the world lose themselves in the din and act crazy. The atmosphere is fully musical and Samba rules. Parade ground is laced with Samba dance carnivals performances one by one. It keeps egging the entire audience to dance wildly and participate in acts of passion. Carnivals won’t be the same without Samba.
