New York Labor day carnival

The 43rd annual New York Labor day carnival, which is the biggest cultural festivals of the New York City, will be held from 2nd to 6th Sept, 2010. It is a West Indian carnival festival. Some of the events which will be held are – the Benefit concert for Haiti will be held on 2nd Sept. It’s a great music show.

On Sept 3rd, Stay in School concert will be held. Its main features are dance, hip-hop, Steel Pan, Karate, Spoken Word, Fashion show and much more. On 4th Sept, there will be Junior Carnival. The parade will be held from 9 am to 3 pm. On 5th Sept, there will be Dimanche Gras from 7-1 am. Its main features are Stilt Walkers, King and Queen Band competition, Rhythm Masters, Kambule Calypso show.

There will be a musical tribute to Charlie. The music will be by Sunshine band. One can save time and also avoid lines by online booking of tickets at www.wiadca.com.

On 6th Sept, there will be carnival where there will be a parade of bands from 11 am to 6 pm. The parade will start from Eastern Parkway and end on Flatbush Avenue. The main features will be costume bands, masqueraders and also moko jumbies, floats and much more. Alcoholic beverages are not allowed in the parade.

Memories of Maarten Carnival 2010

This year, St. Maarten Carnival was celebrated for the 16th time. It generally last for 18 days, which are full of joy and graciousness showers happening on next.

This time it started from 16th day of April month and exactly from this inauguration ceremony the mood was set to rock. With the help of queen shows and teen shows the tempo of the festival picked up the rhythm. Actually, just as a starter, there were a lot of skin display and from every age group the best ones were crowned as a queen.

The 22nd and 23rd day of the festival was marked by the motivation for the youth. The young people taking part in the festival just danced and partied and took the whole stage in their capture. On the 24th day of the festival, the girls started their attack with howling loudly.

Then on the 28th day of April, there was a break for a while in the festive mood with some cooling. But after refreshed enough in the break time, the festive spirits bounced back with double energy, and all colorful bodies could be seen floating around in the J’ouvert show, with this the viewers also went crazy and participated to bash.

The 30th day and 1st day of May, was kept for the Grand march or pared, which is also called as Labors day march. The music during these pared, was very loud and the music and dance just flowed on places all over. The last day was the day for lovers’ celebrations.

Miami-Broward One carnival 2010 on October 10th

The Miami-Broward One carnival 2010 will be celebrated on 10th October 2010. It will be the 26th year of this well-known and exciting festival. The venue is as usual- Bicentennial Park. After celebrating two different festivals for years, Miami and Broward have come together to organize a single carnival which has double entertainment bash. Last year, 2009 was the 25th year for this famous carnival.

This year too, as a tradition of this festival, it is going to be a spectacular, colorful and fantastic carnival. There will be implausible costumes, along with sounds full of energy will on the display at the time of carnival. The traditional calypso and soca bands will perform with all their great performances. There will be some of DJ’s who are expert in driving the crowd crazy with their latest sound tracks of the soca music.

Any carnival is incomplete without the loads of foods and beverages. It is not just the fresh and grand music, but also there will be lot of stalls with beverages and lip-smacking recipes keep the tongues and stomachs happy. Many international cuisines can be tasted during this festival. The Caribbean platters will also add to the lip smacking food items. The enthusiastic shoppers will also have a good time during this festival; they can get good stuff with nice art and craft work. In a way, this time too, the carnival is going to be a lifetime experience for all people attending this.

Oktoberfest Brazil- Blumenau

A beer festival, Oktoberfest is held in the city of Blumenau in Brazil. It is an important city in the Santa Catarina State, about 139 km from Florianopolis which is the capital. The festival, the largest one in Brazil, lasts 18 days. The festival was first started to help the city to recover from flood in 1984. This year the Oktoberfest will be held from 7 to 24 October. It will be the 27th edition.

The Oktoberfest is a special festival for the beer lovers who are crazy for it. A huge variety of different flavors of beer can be enjoyed. The prominent features of Oktoberfest are parades and shows, held in central Blumenau, with bands of Germany, Brazil, Austria and other countries playing great music. There will be other attractions – a Biergarten, folk dances, contests and German food. One can buy souvenirs like beer mugs, handicrafts along with German apparel. Millions of people, a maddening crowd of almost 700,000 gather for this festival.

There are only few hotels in Blumenau. Balneario Camboriu is one of favorite destinations for the travelers to stay. It is important to be safe in the Oktoberfest festival because of danger of driving after getting drunk.
