A beer festival, Oktoberfest is held in the city of Blumenau in Brazil. It is an important city in the Santa Catarina State, about 139 km from Florianopolis which is the capital. The festival, the largest one in Brazil, lasts 18 days. The festival was first started to help the city to recover from flood in 1984. This year the Oktoberfest will be held from 7 to 24 October. It will be the 27th edition. 
The Oktoberfest is a special festival for the beer lovers who are crazy for it. A huge variety of different flavors of beer can be enjoyed. The prominent features of Oktoberfest are parades and shows, held in central Blumenau, with bands of Germany, Brazil, Austria and other countries playing great music. The Tampa Bay Caribbean Carnival dates are June 12th & 13th, 2010 at the Vinoy Park in downtown St. Petersburg, Florida and celebrate its 18th year. The Carnival includes performances by internationally known artists from East India. The Carnival features a steel drum competition, live performances and a “mas” costume parade.
